the scenario is based on some weird things that happened in this city of Amityville... but obviously most of what happens in the movie is written by an excellent scenarist and never happened in real.

The Amityville Horror book is based upon a reported incident from a homeowner who owned the famous house in the 1960s. However, the movie included many scenes, like the band in the kitchen, that were not reported. And the family that has lived there since 1980 has reported nothing unusual.
