In a month-to-month rental agreement, what notice is required to let the landlord know I plan to move?

If nothing is in writing regarding notice, give the landlord at least 30 days notice and do so in writing. Sixty days would be nice and is not an unusual request.

Typically when you rent month-to-month, you will be required to give at least thirty days notice to your landlord. Try to give your notice on the last day of the month so you can move out prior to the first of the following month.

It can vary from state to state. Usually a thirty day notice is needed in most states. This way it let's the landlord know what your intentions are. It gives him time to find a person for your place of residence. This way it gives you time to clean and prepare for your move also.
