Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung and Carl Rogers were very influential in the field of psychology. Freud and Jung were the pioneers of the psychodynamic theory (Jung studied under Freud then branched off on his own) and Rogers brought us the humanistic theory. These became the foundations for other theories.

Freud's biggest contribution was naming the unconscious. Jung's biggest contribution was describing archetypes. And Rogers biggest contribution was the concept of unconditional positive regard.

Freud introduced the notion of psychoanalysis and the id to the field of psychology. Jung emphasized a spiritual aspect of consciousness and the hierarchy of needs. Rogers introduced client-centered therapy.
