Not sure about the state law, but customarily, the estate will be left to either the direct descendants or the direct ascendants. As I said, depending on the state.

This is called "intestate" and covered by Washington RCW 11. 04. 015 You can look this up online and call your local court for advise on contacting Legal Aid to help you.

In any state, the death of a person without a will is handled by law. State statutes essentially have a default will for all of us unless we choose to write our own. All belongings and assets transfer to what is called the overall estate, debts are paid, and anything left transfers to the next of kin.

When someone dies without a will his assets if he had any will be adjucated by the court system. They will decide who gets what.

One third of the estate, net values, etc. will be given to any surviving spouse. The rest will be divided among any heirs that survived. If none survive, then will be given to any living parents of the deceased. Though, you should consult your attorney about this matter. I am sorry for your loss.
