The area directly receiving the radiation will become dry, itch and eventually become burned from the treatment. The skin may break open and bleed and will become blistered exactly as if it had been burned with a hot iron or a burn from the stove. The radiation specialist can give you some cream to help combat these side effects.

Side effects from radiation treatment are widely varied and depend on what part of the body is being treated. Common side effects are fatigue, hair loss, and digestive problems such as nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting. Other side effects are infertility in both males and females due to damage to the reproductive organs.

It depends on what type of cancer you have. Sometimes the radiation will make skin cells die or can discolor your skin
