If it's a wood table, a small amount of Murphy's Oil Soap diluted in water will clean it very well. Otherwise, try a little cleanser with hot water.

Use Goo Gone cleaner found at Home Depot or Lowe's. The only caveat is that make sure you read what surfaces you should not use Goo Gone on.

I would perhaps use a rag or a paper towel. Use some cleanser and spray it upon the sticky table. Then use your handy rag oder paper towel to wipe the stickied area clean. This should be ideal for cleansing your sticky table!
