Buy a repair manual. Search the web for Norton forums that may have downloadable information. Change oil according to your owner's manual (or more often). If you don't have a manual, buy one on EBay, and even if you don't ride much, change oil at least once per year. Even synthetic oil degrades in time, even without riding your bike.
