The best thing to do is to put clean water in it and run it through the system. You can also put a little bit of bleach in it and run it through one time and then you can continue to use just plain water about 5 or 6 more times after that.

To clean the mineral buildup from the water chamber, run 2 cups of vinegar through a regular brewing cycle (no coffee in the basket, of course). Let the machine sit for 15 minutes then repeat with fresh vinegar. Flush by running 2 cycles of plain water.

I would use white vinegar and run it through in the water area... this usual clean the appliance very well.

I clean mine every sunday morning I go to the store and buy the cleaner that you run through it and then I run like three pots of clear water through and it's ready to brew coffee for you again.

Get a french press! It's super easy to clean, doesn't need filters, and doesn't leave a filter taste in your coffee.
