How many actual cups does a 4-cup coffee maker make?

I noticed that a coffee maker cup is much smaller than a real one.

The traditional cup of coffee is only 6 ounces. Today, coffee cups more often hold 10 to 16 ounces, or even more. Since a standard measuring cup is 8 ounces, you only get three of those cups from a 4-cup (24 ounce) coffee maker, and only 2 12-ounce cups.

Many coffee makers base a cup on a measurement of five ounces instead of eight ounces. Therefore, your maker would produce twenty ounces or two and one-half real cups.
