How often do people give themselves insulin shots?

It depends on the person and the status of their diabetes. Some only need one shot a day while others need maybe four. My mother-in-law had the hard to control diabetes and she took sometimes four injections a day. That is why your sugar needs monitored closely to know if you need a shot or not.

Insulin shots need to be given into the abdomen, since they need to be administered to the small intestine to metabolize sugar directly. This is where normal insulin would be secreted into the duodenum by the Islets of Langerhans in the pancreas.
