Depending on the kind of Rival rice steamer product you own, these rice steamers can usually cook multiple servings at once. As far as I know, Rival rice steamers can cook anywhere from one to ten cups of rice at a time, and this is of course a large amount, even for a large family.

It depends on the one you have, some cook 3 or 6 cups, others 10 or 20 cups. The bigger ones should definitely do the trick for a large family, however if you have the smaller 3 or 6 cup ones, you may need to make two (or more) batches for big family meals.
