The Court filing fee for a Chapter 7 is $299 and for a Chapter 13 is $274. Motions and attorney's fees are extra. If you file Chapter 13, you would make payments, the amount of which depends on your debt. If you want to keep some of your property in a Chapter 7, you would have to pay the creditor.

It's the cost of your lawyer plus about $300 in court fees. You will also have to take about $30 in credit counseling courses and do a credit check. I just filed and it cost me $900. I was able to waive the filing fee because my income was low.

You need a lawyer to file bankruptcy. The total cost depends on how complicated your bankruptcy is. The more hours it takes the lawyer, the more it will cost you.
