It depends on how many gigabytes of memory it has. For 30 gigabytes you should be able to put approximately 15,000 songs, give or take. Remember that the gigabytes are approximate and there probably won't be exactly 30.

As many as you like. There are many different options. The portable media center can be purchased with different capacities. But even the smallest option can hold a sufficient amount even for the longest journeys/ partys. I recommend the middle of the range though, just in case. It is always good to have space available.

Depends on what kind of music you listen to. If the music sucks, the the machine may violently reject this and possibly blow a resistor. if it is great music , the machine will happily accept all you can feed it
