I believe there are 12 rounds. I don't think, however, that is necessarily has to last that long. Especially if an opponent is knocked out and down. Then it's over.

It depends on the sanctioning body in charge of the bout. Amateur fights are relatively short, for example, Golden Gloves matches are three rounds. Most very big-time professional bouts are usually 10 or 12 rounds. In the past, really premium fights were 15 rounds, for example, Ali versus Frazier I. A round is three minutes with one minute in between.
