Each independently owned vet's office will set their own fee scale. The amount charged factors in the vet's time, any medicine used, the assistant's time and any procedures done.

The vets time, any medications need, and any veterinarian supplies needed are added when determining the cost of the visit. It's a lot, but that's what you get with pets.

Each veterinarian when it comes to costs of service. It depends on the class of the area and prices of equipment. 300% markup for medications is not uncommon. Whatever the market bears.

It generally is based on how much it costs the Vet practice to use certain medications or equipment in the course of performing a procedure, with some extra added on for the Veterinarian's time and effort. Most of the cost is coming from the use of supplies, which then have to be replenished.

Most vets unless you have a long standing relationship have an initial office visit cost, much like a doctor. Each procedure, and treatment has varied cost associated with it. You can always request a written quote, or call to get a price on the specific treatments.
