The best thing to do is ask. I do know from experience that eel's do not last long at a pet store. Most times there sold out in days.

The age and condition of the eel depends on where you purchase the eel from. Some are sold after a few weeks of life, others months or even years later. One thing to look out for in freshwater eels is whether they need to spend some time in saltwater.
