In most places, they're restricted to 30MPH. Anything faster than that and you need a motorcycle license. If you need to travel by highway, try a 125cc scooter, they're unrestricted and can go at least 55, usually closer to 65 or 70.

If you are of average size and the scooter is stock you will not be going very fast. I would not expect it would go over 40-50mph.
