In the Save As Document at the bottom. There should be a place called File Type. In that Box are different File Saving Types. Like *. wpd = Word Processing document, *. Txt = Text, or *. doc = Document. then after selecting your file type, giving it a name, then click save.

Go to the File Menu (or the Office Button in Word 2007), click on Save As and choose the document type you want to use from the Save As Type drop-down menu. Office 2007 Also allows you to choose the Other Formats option when you open up the Save As menu.
