If food is thrown up as is common with bulimia nervosa, stomach acid will come up with the food which can begin to erode away tooth enamel.

The vomiting that is usually associted with bulimia is the cause of the teeth damage. The product of the vomit includes high levels of stomach acid. This acid is very corresive and will eat away the coating on your teeth

Bulimia affects your teeth in two ways. First, you are malnourished due to not fully digesting your food, and that causes your teeth to already be weaker than they would normally be. Second, you are causing a lot of stomach acid to constantly wash over them, which weakens the enamel even further.

Vomiting can cause the enamel to wear away on teeth. Cavities may need to be filled. Crowns may have to be put on whole teeth.
