To write an obituary for a newspaper you should include the name of the person, their occupation, the date of birth, how this person passed away, and any living relatives. You can include other info such as hobbies, charity work, and things of that nature as well.

When you write an obituary you are writing a condensed life story. Birth date, parents names, immediate survivors, work history and life's interests are all the facts you need. And of course funeral and burial plans are noted as well as memorial contribution preferances and any other facts you find interesting to share about a life lived.

One method you could use to learn how to write an obituary is to simply take a look at one. Get a newpaper and check the table of contents to locate the obituary section as well as the classified obituaries. Read the obituaries to get an idea as to how they are composed and what should be included.

For an obituary you would need the date of birth and where, the date of death and where the parents names, any brothers or sisters living or dead, spouse names and children's names. Then fill in the life story and funeral plans.

You would want to include the names of all close relatives, including spouses and children. Sometimes it is nice to include some information about their job, interests, hobbies or groups that they had belonged to. At the end, state information on funeral services and where donations can be sent.
