Attachment disorder tends to go away by itself as a child grows. The way to treat it is to allow the child to spend increasingly greater time intervals away from you. As the comfort level increases, the time interval "unattached" will too.

If it is not severe, you can try short breaks away from the child. However, in more severe cases, it is best to work with a child therapist or psychologist who is used to working with children and may suggest cognitive behavioral therapy. A specialist will be able to zero on on the exact steps to take.

The two main routes to take are the individualized therapies and the public health therapies. The individualized therapies vary, but revolve largely around psychotherapy.

Attachment disorder is most frequently treated by getting the child enrolled with activities outside of the house. Most children begin to respond immediately once they are signed up for a sports team . The child immediately becomes redirected and soon takes on a new priority. Many parents have placed their kids in summer camps for the same reason.
