Usually with antibiotics. Try using a salt water nose spray 3 to 4 times a day and that will help clean out the nostrils and sinuses. Use over the counter remedies to treat the symptoms such as stuffy nose or cough. If you begin to run a fever you will need to see your physician.

If it's truly a sinus infection, many doctor prescribe antibiotics. In some cases like yours, people find relief from the use of a neti-pot.

It depends on the cause. Most sinus infections are from a virus, and those would clear up on their own in about two weeks. Some are caused by allergies, in which case you should treat the allergy itself. Others are caused by auto-immune conditions, which can require treatment with immunosuppressing drugs.

Hot steam, hot cloths, and hot showers help reduce the discharge and discomfort. Saline nasal washes may help symptoms as may decongestants. If symptoms last longer than a week, it is advisable to see a doctor for antibiotics.
