The easiest way to tell what sex a duck is is by their tail feathers. Male ducks have a curled feather on their tail, while female ducks' tail feathers lay flat. Sometimes this is referred to as a "sex" feather. This difference should become obvious once the duck reaches about 3-4 months old.
