The word "parrot" is associated with repeating a sound or to "mimic". Parrots are like children. They learn by watching and listening. Just like children, don't say something you do not want them to repeat. You can start by calling the birds name over and over. As he learns graduate on to other words and sounds like whistling.

Parrots learn to talk from their surroundings. Choose a word or phrase you want your parrot to say and repeat it to them many times. Expose them to lots of other human speech by leaving a TV on when you're not home, or sitting in the room with the parrot when you talk on the phone.

Patience patience patience. To teach a parrot to talk requires A LOT of repetitive word use. If you want him to say "Good Morning" you need to say it to him 100 times. It is hard work and you need to stay committed but once hes got it hes got it!

It is all about patience, time, and being repetitive. Pick a word that doesn't have more than two sylables. Repeat the word many times each day, in a nice friendly voice, while looking directly at the bird. The bird will associate this word with you, so pick a nice word that you won't mind hearing constantly after he learns it!

Make sure your parrot isn't around other birds. Make sure you have a great relationship with your bird and pay a lot of attention to him. Do not show a lot of emotion and repeat the words you want your bird to learn
