How do you stop mind chattering?

Distract yourself with an activity that you need to do or like to do. If you can turn on some music while doing the activity that will also help. Deep breathing in order to relax will probably also help, any type of relaxation will help. Mind chattering is usually the result of unfinished business.

One method is to concentrate exclusively on your breathing rhythm and the sound it makes. Anything else that pops into your mind, just let go. Concentrate on breathing only.

Make a conscience effort to stop, that's the only true way to stop. Try to direct your attention to another subject other than what you're obessing so that you change your focus to a less bothersome topic. The other other way is to have some sort of physical tool to help you keep your mind from wandering.

If you are having trouble keeping your mind from racing, you need to find an activity to do that will make you think really hard. Play video games or do a crossword puzzle. Exercise might help too. Pretty much anything that will make you concentrate on what you are doing will help you from having a "mind chatter".
