Since roses are so amazing, do splurge on a proper nice trellis. After that, simply follow the lines of the trellis with the new canes that come up each year, attaching with garden tape or wide green ribbon; never use baggie ties or string as they can damage the canes.

The best way is to use a trellis. Tie the stems with string, loosely, onto the trellis. This will train the climbing vines to cling to the trellis and grow where you want it to. If you want them to grow up a fence, tie in the same fashion.

All you need to do is put the stake is so that they are suporting the weight of the bush the most important thing is to put the stakes on the side the bush leans too that will always be the heavy side of the bush. You can try a net search for more information.

You can plant them along a fence line. Also, there are trellises that come in different sizes and shapes that would highlight your roses.

The best way to do that is to always make sure you are putting the stakes to the back of the bush if you look at the bush from the side it will be leaning one way or the other you want to stake the side it is leaning toward.
