Click start and then settings and click control panel. There choose network settings and you will find a LAN symbol [two computers] right click that icon and click properties. In that window double click last option tcp/ip and you are done. Now change your manual settings.

Click TCP/IP then click Uninstall from dial-up connections and from all LAN connections in the Network and Dial-up Connections tool. Install another protocol to create a placeholder for your connections. Restart your computer. Click LAN connections, reinstall TCP/IP, and then restart your computer.

To get to the settings for TCP/IP Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network and Dial-up Connections. You're going to need to adjust your router, get the installation CD and follow the steps that you are prompted to follow. For electronic questions like this i would refer to either the user manual or consult a trained and licensed electronics expert, as there are many types, and this is broad.
