To learn to ride a unicycle, all you need to do is practice just like with a bicycle or a skateboard. Take your unicycle to a fence and practice getting on it and balance. Then try to ride it along the fence. Eventually, you'll be able to take your hand away from the fence and ride wherever you want.

I learned how by holding onto a rail until I learned how to balance right, it didn't take long. You should definitely wear a helmet and don't ride by a pool.
