How do you replace old lead pipe plumbing?

This is a major undertaking, but lead pipe will lead you to the undertaker. Doing the job one piece at a time is not recommended, since every time you disturb the plumbing more lead will end up in your water supply. It would be better to call a reputable plumber and have the pipe replaced or condemn the house.

Call a plumber. Stop all outlet connections. Carefully replace leadpipe with new one. Make it waterproof by cement or equivalent adhesive.
