How do you repair a hole in a muffler?

Usually you can weld the muffler back together and that will be a quick fix for a while. It is usually better just to buy a new one. Repairing the muffler will not last you that long and be a bigger headache than getting a new one for your car.

Better not repair a muffler. They get extremely hot, they're noisy and attract attention of law enforcement, and worst of all they handle lethal carbon monoxide. Replace if possible.

They make a product that contains mending putty and mendimg tape. First you clean off rust around the hole,then run the car to heat up the muffler ,which helps the putty dry that you shove in the hole then wrap with the tape and let it harden.
