How do you remove the flywheel from a lawn tractor engine?

Remove the top of the engine cover. Remove the flywheel cover. Hold flywheel stationary by blocking its rotation and remove the center bolt (VERY TIGHT). One the bolt is removed that holds the flywheel on, you will need to gently pry the flywheel off by rotating it as you pry until it comes free.

It is always best to leave it to a professional but in most cases the flywheel is underneath the pull string housing. you wont need any special tools but you might want to set aside some time.
