Both "pick-awn" and "pee-can" are accepted pronunciations for that word. Typically it is a regional tendency one way or another.

It all depends on where you are. In the Deep South most people pronounce it "puh-cahn", but in the Midwest the favored pronunciation seems to be "pea-can".
