One of the most simple is to use an alternator from a car, attach a fan blade and run the wires to a bank of 12 volt batteries. It's used to recharge the batteries. An inverter connected to the batteries can be used to power items such as TV's, small computers, small appliances, etc. But watch out for Building Codes.
