Using metal button forms is easy: the top pops off; cover it with your fabric, stretching for a wrinkle-free fit; snap it onto the bottome piece; sew onto your garment.
There is a little unit that you can buy on the peg wall at the craft stores. It looks like a rubber insert for pushing the button backs into. They work really well.
