Installing central air is a complicated task it requires experience as well as special knowledge. The first thing I would do is check to see if you need to have a building permit before doing anything. You also need to properly size the unit which a certified contractor can give you the correct size.

The central air compressor is located outside the house. Copper lines run from this to the "A" coil which is located inside the furnace. You can use the existing ductwork from the furnace.
