Using plywood and/or cement board,apply substrate to top of the cabinet(s) allowing appropriate overhang on all necesary sides.Spread mortar notch trowel and set the tiles the desired grout joint thickness.

care should be taken while installing a granite tile counter top.First apply the substrate over the cabinet by using appropriate plywood.Then apply the mortar where you need to place the granite tile by using the notch towel and then place the tiles over the mortar.the thickness of the mortar and the thickness of the tile both should be considered.
