Connect the webcam to the computer via the USB port. Install any accompanying software with the webcam. Turn webcam on (if applicable). Open windows live messenger. Goto "Tools", select web cam settings. Check microphone source and adjust to appropriate volume. Select appropriate video source. Now, click "Actions","Video", "Show your webcam". Your contacts should appear.

Once signed on, go to actions, start a video conversation and you will be prompted to complete the Video Device configuration providing the Cam is operating properly, installed and has the drivers working. If this doesn't work, you might consider splitcam to enable using the webcam across multiple services.

You first need to install a web camera on you computer. From there, open up Windows Messenger and during a chat there is a button at the top of the window that looks like a camera. Click the button and it will automatically find your camera if it is installed properly.

Windows Live Messenger is able to automatically determine if any webcams are installed. You just need to install the webcam on your computer and it will find it.
