Pick out paint colors that you want the rooms to be. Paint half the wall one color and the top another complementery color. Buy inexpensive window treatments and large rug for the living and dining room. Look at the pieces you have around the house and reuse them in different parts of the house. Accessories. Candles, plants throws, pillows.

Start with one room at a time and expand as you can afford it. Instead of buying inexpensive items, buy quality that will last. And buy things you LOVE. Don't spend money on something if you don't love it. No one expects you to have a fully furnished house right off, so take your time and do it right.
