Modern digital cable boxes produce two different outputs high definition and standard definition. To connect to your hd-tv use the HDMI cable. This will route all picture and sound information in full high definition. The cable connects from the HDMI interface of your box to the HDMI input of your TV. Tune your TV to the correct HDMI input number.

First you need to figure out what types of connections you have available on the TV and cable box, what type of HDTV you have (720i, 720p, 1080i,1080p). Once you decide this, you need to purchase the the corresponding cable. HDMI is the highest quality, followed by component, RCA, and coaxial.

You can use the Coax cable, or the AV cables...but a HDTV should be digital ready, unless you bought one of the first HDTVs out.
