You can take a preparation course and when you are ready take the test. They also have a pretest and if you pass that you can take the actual test.

You cannot take the GED online. So, search for "locate a GED testing center" and make sure its associated with the American Council on Education. They have lots of helpful links to all the resources and information you need. You will benefit so much from having a GED! Good luck!

Depending upon your state's requirements, if you feel you are ready to take the GED then all you have to do is sign up for the test.

Check with your state's education agency for a list of schools and colleges that offer the GED test; then contact the ones closest to you to see who has the first available test date.
