How do you format a hard drive in Windows XP?

You can use the software that came with the hard drive manufacturer's packaging. Or, you can right click on the hard drive in "My Computer" and select the format option.

Right click "My Computer" and select "manage". In the disk management section you can see all your harddrives with the partitions. Right click the desired one and create a partition and/or format it. If there is already a partition on the harddrive you can simply right click the drive in "My Computer" and select "format" there.
