On a laptop, it is typically on the bottom near or underneath the battery. It is a code that is typically worn through in the middle revealing a red line. On a desktop, it should come on a laminated paper.

There are a few ways to find your Windows key, the first and quickest way is to look on either the side or back of the tower, or if you have a laptop, look on the panel that covers the hard drive bay. Another way is to go to system properties if you already have the computer on.

It should be on the computer's outer cover somewhere, usually on a desktop it's either the side or back, for a laptop it's on the hard drive cover.

Insert your XP CD in the CD and/or DVD ROM drive. Double-click and try to locate any text file with a file name - Product Key or Serial number. Or try to check below your laptop or desktop computer.
