The best place is the web. Look on E-bay for auctions or visit coin web sites and see how much your coin sells for. Remember that condition is critical.

Couple ways i can think of off the top of my head. You can either consult your local blue books and find someone who's specialized in this kind of thing, or you could refer to a coin collectors book. Your local pawn shop could also offer a bit of insight on the matter.

You can try finding a coin magazine or book at your local bookstore. Or many towns have a coin shop, where I'm sure a clerk would be happy to answer your questions.
