How do you find out about students' attitudes and feelings about your class?

I teach high school.

You could do an anonymous survey. Don't have the students put their names on them. Ask what they like about your class and why they like that. Also ask if there is anything that they don't like and if so how you could improve on that. Ultimately it's your class, so feel free to teach as you wish.

You can do an anonymous survey. Give the survey to the class, ask them to fill it out, then turn it in. In order to get honest answers, you must stress that answers will not affect your opinion of them as a class.

Have them fill out a survey and drop it in a box that you place in the front of the classroom. Stress they don't have to identify themselves.

First, ask your students what they think and how your class could be better. When students feel they have a say, they usually will throw some stuff out. Second, monitor them in class. Are they hostile, bored, sleeping, active, having fun, etc...? Just watching tells alot.
