You should select a preschool that most matches your parenting style and the personality of your child. If your child needs structure, then a set schedule and group activities would be much better than a free activity center. If you are a parent who likes to know about your child day, you will want a more formal school.

When evaluating preschool programming it is best to take a tour of the area, talk to all teachers involved, and talk to parents who have or had their children attending.

The teacher/student ratio shouldn't be more than 1:5. Do you agree with how they discipline and redirect the children? Are indoor and outdoor activities offered? Is there free play as well as structured 1:1 and group time? Are snacks/meals provided? Is the facility clean and odor free? Is there a good balance between academic and socialization activities?

Preschool is about socialization and being away from home, so make is easy on yourself, look for a school that is clean and has a good class size with a nice outdoor space, away from street noise and fumes. Keep close to home with convenient parking, you will probably have play dates with new friends.

Go tour the school, that is the best way to learn about a place. Ask the right questions and find out what they learn there.

First you need to determine what you are looking for in a preschool and the personality of your child. It is ideal if you can experience / watch activities.

Take a look at their curriculum, make sure it fits what you want your child to learn. Then look at their disipline procedures, confirm that you agree with their policy.
