Pick an inspiration, a painting or picture with colors you love and then use this to pick a paint - soft or neutral is ideal, and then the other colors will get pulled in with accents. Look in magazines or online to see what kinds of accents people use that you wouldn't think of.

Do one room at a time. First choose paint colors. Remember the other room and set the color or colors to blend well with all the rooms. Use plants, candles, pictures. Leave the personnal photos for the bedroom. Move furniture around from one room to another. The bedroom tables might look good in the living room. Declutter.

Do you have a friend whose taste in decorating you admire? Is there a specific color that you just love? These can get you started. Look at decorating books and magazines, watch TV programs on decorating. Hunt the internet, you just need to find a style.

start with the room that you are in the most. Make a design book and cut out pictures from magazines of inspiration. Pick a picture and go with it. Try and find inspiration where you shop. Once you've found inspiration pick a wall color.
