Generally when I am at work one individual will likely run at the mouth unsolicited. If simply ignoring him/her doesn't do the trick we have been known to generate a false rumor and be sure he/she gets wind of it to deliver it right to the boss.

This is a hard one. You can ignore them. It all depends what kind of cloat this person has if none, talk this over with your boss. Stress the importance of working as a team without sarcasm.

Consult with a manager in the office. It's not appropriate for you to handle the situation, let the manager know that this person is effecting your working capabilities and then the manager should talk to them to fix the problem.

Just ignore this person. Today it seems like if you want to keep your job you just have to shut up and do your work. It's sad, but true.
