The dyes or colorants used to color mulch should be environmentally safe, non-toxic to humans, pets and other animals. There is a large variety of colors available. Can check colors online by using search engine with phrase "mulch dyes". Heartland Enriched Colorant by Amerimulch is one company offering mulch dye. Mulch can be placed in cement mixer and add colorant.

There is a product called Magic Mulch that works wonders, you can spray it on with a pump sprayer, and mix well. Be sure to wear gloves.

You can buy pre-dyed mulch at most home and garden outlets, as well as commercially available dyes and colorants. Most are mixed with water and sprayed into place.

Consider if you really want to do this. Few things in the garden look as out of place as artificially colored mulch. However, if you choose to do so, there are commercial sprays available to the homeowner. If you are interested in coloring new mulch to blend in with an existing mulch, consider mixing the two mulches together instead.

There are products on the market such as Earth Shades which can be mixed with water and sprayed on the mulch with an all-purpose sprayer that work well.
