First, clean the oil drip pan. Check the burner holes for dirt and grease. Some burners are removeable and can be sprayed with a grill cleaner or you can use a solution of 1 cup of vinegar, 1 teaspoon of dish soap and a gallon of hot water. Use a wire brush to completely remove the debris.

You can purchase a gas grill cleaner at a hardware store or rub the metal grates with aluminum foil after cooking. Many people do not recommend cleaning a gas grill because it helps with flavoring food.

To clean the outside of a gas grill use warm water and a brush or sponge. To clean the grates of a grill use a steel wool brush.

The best way is to turn the heat up to a low-high for 5 to 8 minutes to burn off any excess fat or other effluvia. Then scrub all cooking parts with a wire brush, once they have cooled remove the grates and soak them in warm soapy water, then scrub again.

If the grill has a lot of black char sticking, you can use a metal brush. Take cooking oil and soak it then scrub it with the brush.

Rub the soiled areas with a warm, wet, rag. The tougher stains will need a scrub pad to loosen the grime, then continue to wipe with rag until clean.

When you're done cooking, take a piece of aluminum foil, make it into a ball and scrape it. Lay foil on the grill, turn it on high for 15 minutes, scrape it and then spray with non-sticking cooking spray.
