Do not wash a new perm for at 3 days, followed by a conditioner, pat dry. Run fingers through it or used wide tooth comb gently, allow to dry.

Your stylist should tell you that you aren't supposed to wash your hair for 48 hours after the perm, otherwise the chemicals will wash out. It is important to wash your hair, and to be careful brushing it (sometimes they tell you to brush your hair with your fingers or with a very wide toothed comb).

Definitely don't use a regular brush. Use a wide toothed comb to gently comb through your hair. Brushes will cause it to frizz.

If you just got a perm, you shouldn't shampoo your hair for at least 48 hours because the process is extremely drying and you also don't want to accidentally damage your curls or waves. You then need to make sure that you're conditioning your hair regularly and using a pick to get knots out after every shower.

Don't wash it for the first couple of days or you risk the curl dropping out. Use special shampoos, conditioners and styling products for curly or permed hair. Don't brush it as it will make it frizzy - use a wide toothed comb or preferably your fingers to style it.

Remember to not wash your hair for a couple days as this will strip the chemicals out of it. Just rinse with water.

Shower BEFORE going in for the perm. Make sure you're hair is fully dried, if its wet, the perm won't work. When you get home after getting a perm DO NOT shower or wet your hair in anyway for 24 hours, this will reverse the effects of your perm and possibly damage your hair.
